Over the weekend of January 3rd to January 6th, the team will make the first attempt of this epic journey. Wanting to prove that it can be done by (almost) anyone, the team has burdened itself with a few things which are less than ideal.
Firstly, the trip is in January. The weather will be varied, at best. Snow in the Alps is almost guaranteed and there is little chance of ideal driving conditions. Coupled with the short daylight hours at this time of year, we’re sure that additional challenges await.
Next, one of the team is just 18. Driving for just over a year means that there’s still plenty to master. Driving in Europe will be a new experience and will certainly make this a real learning curve.
Lastly, the choice of car was important. The inaugural trip will see a six year old VW Up! speeding its way south (and north). With three drivers and a weekend’s kit there won’t be a whole load of space. And it’s certainly not going to be the quickest of trips!
